Why Athletes Choose Acupuncture

Targeted treatment that helps you recover faster, train harder, and stay in the game.

Faster Recovery

Increases blood flow and reduces inflammation at the injury site, helping muscles and tendons recover faster between training sessions and competitions.

🎯

Targets the Injury

Precisely addresses trigger points, muscle tightness, and soft tissue restrictions that cause pain and limit your performance. Not a general relaxation treatment.

🔄

Prevents Re-Injury

Addresses the underlying muscle imbalances and compensation patterns that lead to recurring injuries, keeping you on track with your training.

What Athletes Are Saying

Real reviews from runners, swimmers, and active New Yorkers.

★★★★★
"I'm an investment banker, dad, husband and ultra marathon open water swimmer. My day to day life takes a massive physical toll on my body. Nick is an absolute miracle worker. When I leave their office after an acupuncture session, my body feels like it has had 10 massages. More importantly, I can jump back into training, traveling, lifting, carpooling and feel reinvigorated."

"I'd been having persistent calf and Achilles pain following an ankle sprain — after one visit with Marina, I was able to run pain free for the first time in 6 months. A couple of follow ups, and I'm finally able to ramp up mileage again. Save yourself the existential despair and go see them."

"Nick was incredible. I was referred to them by my PT for some knee pain regarding my most recent half marathon. From my first visit, Nick was incredibly kind, patient, and warm. Within 5 sessions my knee was no longer stiff, rigid, or painful."

"I can't recommend this place enough! During marathon training, I struggled with extremely tight calves and hamstrings — nothing seemed to provide lasting relief, not even physical therapy."

"I've had great results for runner's knee and sore muscles after long runs. I've seen both Nick and Teddy, each had slightly different techniques, both were very effective. Highly recommend, especially for runners."

"Teddy was absolutely amazing! I'm a physical therapist and I refer a lot of my clients to Morningside Acupuncture because they are the best in the business. I thought it was time to finally try it myself since I've been having back pain. Teddy's treatment was super helpful. 10/10 recommend!"

Common Questions

How is sports acupuncture different from regular acupuncture?

Sports acupuncture focuses specifically on musculoskeletal injuries, performance recovery, and the demands of training. We use a combination of acupuncture and dry needling techniques to target trigger points, muscle tightness, and areas of restricted movement. Every treatment is tailored to your sport, your injury, and your training schedule.

Can I train on the same day as a session?

We recommend training or working out before your session on the same day. Afterwards, take the rest of the day to recover. Exercise is generally fine the next day, but it depends on what your issue is and how you respond to treatment. We'll give you specific guidance based on your situation.

How many sessions will I need?

Many patients notice improvement within 1–3 sessions. Acute injuries (recent strains, sprains) often respond quickly. Chronic or recurring issues may take 5-10+ sessions. We'll give you an honest assessment at your first visit.

Do you work with my PT or coach?

Absolutely. Many of our patients are referred by physical therapists, orthopedists, and coaches. We're happy to coordinate care and communicate with your other providers.

Do I need a referral?

No referral needed. Just book online or call us. We accept credit card, cash, check, Apple Pay, and HSA/FSA. We can provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement.
